I have a 2000 Explorer and have been having problems with a low idle/stall. I located the IAC (with help from this board, thank you) cleaned it and it worked, no problems. Anyway I was going to purchase a new one and asked a guy at the autoparts store and he didn't know what I was talking about, is there another name for this part? He listed off a few names off the computer ending in something, something sensor but wasn't sure which one he meant and I didn't have the IAC with me, any help would be appreciated. Thanks alot.

what parts store did you go to... try a different store.... or get the ford part number and see if they can cross it or look it up that way....

Autozone has it listed as a Throttle Air bypass. I believe Advance Auto/Parts America has it listed as a Idle Air Control Valve.

Woo woo party noisemaker? Hummer ? Gee I dunno.... (sorry couldn't help myself)

I believe it is called the idle control motor. Which kinda makes sense since that is what it does. I got that from the snap on manual that came with our OBD II computer we use. Mine use to stick in the winter and the idle would be spuratic. The computer gave me the code and i looked in the manual and it said Idler Control Motor.

Hope that helps, you could look in the hayes manual and see if that is listed.

Im pretty sure it stands for "Idle Air Control"

Yes it is the "Idle Air Control Valve"
