Hey all....How's it goin where you all are....oh yeah...Merry Christmas to all.

Little about myself here, I live in beautiful British Columbia Canada. The southern part, right on the ocean. Awesome place.
I have an 89 F-150 Lariat, a 2000 XLS, and my wheelin machine is a 2001 Kia Sportage 4x4 with a 3" lift running 235's, cargo rack I made up top.
That is the last you will hear of that vehicle here....lol.

I am currently in a forum for the F-150 I have and now I am here to hopefully get a little info on a problem I have with the XLS.

Here it is, when I first start it each day, it won't stay running the first time I turn it over. Below 1000 rpm, it dies. I can restart it and sometimes on the second or third try it runs fine and stays running below 1000rpm. If it doesn't stay running after restarting so many times, I have to drive it almost like a standard using brake and accelerator, keeping the revs at no lower than 1000rpm. Usually after a few km's it will idle on its own below 1000rpm and stay running. I can park it and leave it and restart it at anytime during the same day and it won't do this again until the next day. I made an appointment for it to be checked, but it wasn't doing this konking out thing when I took it in, so they said they couldn't test it unless it was doing it. It's so regular but so intermittent.
Any ideas?

If this should be elsewhere please let me know.

I would look at the IAC valve. Pop a quick search and there are quite a few threads with similar issues and pics and stuff.

Love BC- Very picturesque place!

Welcome to the forum! :wavey:

Thanks Man....I will search here for that.

They can be cleaned, but results are hit or miss. If it was mine and I was going to keep it, I'd just try a new one. They're only like $40 or so down here...

welcome

Thank You Thank You and Thank You again.

Seems to be a very friendly place. Glad I joined in.
