Another possible Firestone tire death...

Ok so you driving by see this accident and say the tires didnt look dry rotted. How long were you there? Did you stop and look at the accident and talk with the officers at the scene? Assuming you were like many others and drove past it at a slow speed I find it hard to believe that you can make a judgement contrary to what Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Mike Rushing said when he made the statement "...the tire was old and cracked. It ruptured from wear, not from a defect..." I myself am going to have to go by what the officer said going by what he saw or what his fellow officers saw rather than what a passing motorist saw as he was rubbernecking.

I am with ok89 on this one. Things just dont seem to add up. You say that you came across this accident in which two people were killed and you came to the conclusion that the tires werent dry rotted.

The only way to tell if a tire is dry rotted is to actually be close to the tire. Around here when someone is killed in an accident they usually block off the road and dont let anyone by and as people are driving by slow rubbernecking they usually get pissed off and tell you to keep going.

Unless you actually pulled over and got out of the car i dont see how you could come to that conclusion. And around here police officers wouldnt stand for that type of stuff especially after two people were killed and pronounced dead at the scene.

Then you brought up the fact that you had friends and family in the sheriffs dept. Were they at the scene also? Were they the ones that let you walk around the scene and gather information? Because i know any other police officer would not let anyone near a vehicle after something like that happens.

By doing that you are disrespecting the familys of the victems involved. I could see if you were involved in the accident and you wanted to know exactly what happend. But to just be driving by and wanting to stick your nose all over the place is not cool.
