It just never ends. 😕

At least they have the production dates, but it is unusual NOT know which vehicles are affected.

A grand total of 1,000 vehicles are called back, split between Explorers and Aviators produced from April 4th 2022 to May 4th 2022. Due to degraded mechanical properties, the rails in these vehicles don’t comply with the federally-mandated standard for occupant protection and fuel system integrity.

if its a recall the vin should be listed in nhtsa database, do you have then vin?
I think its GY1NNA06607, but according to the pdf file in the first linked article the rails werent used in "VIN order" and those rails are "missing". Guess ill call the dealer first thing tomorrow morning.

I don;t think there is a way for you to tell. It sounds like the vehicles will need to be inspected by the dealer. On the bright side if it is you will have 2 options. from the article. If the rails are out of spec, “owners will have the option for a vehicle replacement or buyback.”

Ah ok, i dont have the car yet so i will check again then. This was its chassis nmbr, thought it was the same.

Not sure if the dutch part of Ford will have the same opinion ;)

oh, duh! didnt even see youre not in the US! the chassis # is the same as the vin, but guess its different over there! my bad!

Just had a chat with my dealer.

They were not informed yet of any issues and were still expecting my car to arrive this week. They just checked it and the car has been delayed by at least 2 weeks with code QDPI.

The dealer had never seen this code before, my guess it's something like 'quality department purchase inspection' but not sure.

They are now trying to contact the Dutch branch of Ford (which is a hassle on it's own, they have to "request a call" and then 1 will be scheduled...

Knowing my luck, i'm guessing i have 1 of the affected cars.

*quick update, the dealer has just been informed through the dealer system of another delay with at least a week, still no comms from Ford offices though.

I would think that the VIN configuration would be the same regardless of where the vehicle is exported to since I believe most are produced in Chicago.

Had a call with my dealer again today. Not much of an update but they did get a response from the dutch Ford division...

They couldnt tell why the holdup was other than a "normal checkup" and the sources i send to my dealer were marked as "untrustworthy", including the nhtsa documents. So yeah... in for a fun ride i guess.
