Do any of you guys know where my antifreeze may be going? I filled up the overflow about a month ago and I just checked it today and it is almost bone dry Dead Link Removed Where could it be going. I know that it is not being burnt up cause there is no smoke comming out of the exhaust, and there are no spots on the ground under my parking space. So where is it going?
I am away at college and I do not need this now so any advice is greatly apperciated.

I too had a similar coolant loss in my 91. Check the radiator carefully with a pressure tester, the plastic tanks can get small stress cracks that let small amounts of coolant escape but not so much as to hit the ground(my case) also the radiator guy who replaced the tank on mine cautioned me about the core to header joints said he has seen quite a few leak in that area.
Good Luck

I had the same problem with my 94 XLT 4 door 4x4. I noticed the problem at 10000 miles and finally at 28000, the problem was fixed. Turned out to be a defective head gasket that was allowing antifreeze to mix with my motor oil in the oil pan. I too did not have any smoke coming from the exhaust so I was in denial that the antifreeze was entering the combustion chambers. The dealer said that the antifreeze was not diluting the oil enough for the engine to smoke. How many miles on your truck?

On the way back from my 140 mile trip I hit 65,555.5 miles, on my '93. The theromstat is reading low as usual. AND I searched the entire engine compartment and foud no leaks. I will look one more time. I do think that I need to do some work cause the antifreeze is not as bright as it usuall is. But then again I did buy it in May so it may just need to be drained and new put back in. Also what do you think about having the trans serviced?

I had a 93 with a similar problem. I noticed the antifreeze loss at 24,000 miles. After taking it back for warranty repair over 10 times, meeting with the factory rep, 3 or 4 pressure checks, a ford engineer told me I was draining the fluid. He had the dealership seal the plastic tank. Real smart idea, 2 miles from the dealership the hose blew. After that I managed to get the fax number to the Ford CEO. I sent a 15 page fax with a the repair paperwork and history. One hour later I had a call from Detroit and the following week the top end of the motor was replaced along with the ford engineer. It turned out the heads were warped just enough that the antifreeze was being burned in the cylinders.
