Any custom rear bumpers with 3" body lifts?

Got some work done, heres the general shape and style, dont mind some of the gaps.. I was in a hurry since today was mothers day and well, supper time rolled around quickly after I had changed my clutch lol

Dont mind the somewhat loose bolt in that pic.. I put weld nuts on the back since its pretty much impossible to get to once the skidplate was welded in place, and I crossthreaded the **** out of that nut. I'll cut it off and put a new one on tomorrow probably.

Once this is all done and painted Im going to need to think about how Im going to tube it to the rock sliders for the fenders... Because I'd like to have the bumpers removable, and well, if the tubes are welded to the bumper, and rocksliders.. Unless I put flanges on the tubes and bolted them to the rock sliders and bumpers, but then I couldnt build a cage off of that, could I? It would be to weak of a starting point wouldnt it?

Looks dang good man . Got a question though, did you put the skid plate on there just to hide the frame? Also are you going to continue the bumper up the side further or leave it short? Also is the 1/4" steel or what? Sorry about all the questions. I've got a bumper on the back burner, so all the info I can gather the better.

Its all 1/4" plate, and I put the skid plate on to act as a slide if I ever need too, although it doesnt quite pass the shackles.. but I wasnt sure how far my shackles would move back so I cut it short because of that. As for the sides (the front is the same atm) I left it like that because Im doing my SAS soonerish, and Im moving the rear diff back and cutting the rear of the fender a bit, as to how much I dont know yet, probably 2-3" back on the rear fender, and might move the rear diff back an inch or two. I shouldnt have to worry with the front being moved forward so long as I use a shackle forward setup, but I just need to figure a way around some of the problems that build has.

I've got 3/4" clevis' in the back of the truck, but no lugs yet. I wanted to buy 2 lugs from princess auto (same ones as in the "Ordered some D-Rings" thread further down) but they didnt have any in stock at the time.

Once the thing is welded up as it is right now I'll start gusseting it for this next weekend (the first real test for this truck ). Once the weekend is over I'll take both bumpers off, sand blast them, box them in completely, add my receiver mounts, and re paint them flat black probably, or get them sprayed with bed liner since thats what Im going to paint the truck body with eventually.

Thanks for the comments guys I've enjoyed making my bumpers so far and I hope I can keep the motivation up for my rock sliders and tubed fender flares, as well as the roll cage

Oh, and the skid plate will be wrapped around like the rest of the bumper, I just have to find all my angles and such still. I put the easy piece on just to hide the frame as it sits though. I didnt have to put it on (the front doesnt have its skid plate yet) but I wanted to hide the shackles and frame a bit more.

Heres the bumper now. Got the skidplate mostly finished, finished almost all my grinding, just have to gusset and box, then paint it. Oh, and add my d-rings that I still didnt get...

And heres what took most of my time today. The angles in the skidplate were harder than I originally thought heh, now I just have to match the front with the back.

The reciever will show up after this weekend at the earliest probably. I'm just building it tough enuff to take any abuse this weekend, and then sandblasting both of them and painting them really nicely. I went gloss black in the front but after the weekend I'll be priming/sanding until its all smooth (get any of the grinder divets out, dont want to use bondo heh) and then spray them flat black, and I may end up spraying the truck body as well flat black, just under the Explorer black plastic trim. If I get time I may even sandblast my rims and get'em painted black.. Not diggin the white anymore, and I dont want to buy new rims yet since I'll be running a 5x5.5 bolt pattern eventually.

If you wanted I could try and find all my measurements again and just make a wannabe blue-print of the front and rear (although the front is more for 'my truck' than anything else..). I'd leave the skid plate up to you though because those were sort of just, tack some metal here, plasma cut whatever I didnt want left lol. The front is pretty straight forward, as would the rear be. Again, the only hard part was the skid plate, and it wasnt all that time consuming, with a plasma cutter. Once both bumpers are *done* I'll put a write-up about them on here I think... I never expected to have BOTH of my first fab threads get this much attention Gives me tons of motivation for other projects now!
