Any modified instrument clusters?

Does anyone here have a custom instrument cluster on there 2nd gen? Since my speedometer isnt working, Im trying to see if I can actually integrate a seperate gauge to show the speed or put a cluster possibly from another car???? Does any one know of a device that can display all the gauges on a lcd screen perhaps?

As a temp fix, any GPS unit will track your speed. Why is your speedo not working though? Why not just get that fixed rather than putting in a separate gauge to show speed?

but if you must there are a couple of mods on here. not sure if they will help you tho. one is a 1st gen and the other just changes the face. haven't run across any more.

I have no idea why its not working. It just decided not to work on my way back home. I posted a thread on this forum asking for help but theres no help yet, so I just thought that it would be rather cool to put an lcd or something where the cluster is and well make it my new cluster but I just would like to know if theres any device (besides the GPS lol) that can display the gauges on a lcd. Custom is better than original, just saying lol

A custom gauge set would be pretty expensive since the speedo is driven electronically.

I'm willing to bet the servo died in your speedo. That's what happened to mine a couple of years ago. I bought a used gauge set from a salvage yard and viola I had a working speedo again. You do want to make sure you get a set for the same year as yours. Ford changed the resistors on the other gauges through out the years so if you use a different year cluster your temp, fuel, volt or gas gauge might not work.

Could the vehicle speed sensor have anything to do with the speedometer not working? Because Im going to replace it tomorow with a new to see if it is that..if not, I guess I'll just buy another cluster like you said...

I did the same thing. The speed sensor did not fix mine.

Dang read this too late..Today I put back the cluster and connected the battery & when I was leaving my house to go to autozone, the speedometer started working again out of nowhere..I still bought the sensor though & I guess Ill change it if the speedo stops working..but I dont know if it might be that.. Either way, its better to have it checked off on the possibility list

Mine would start working out of no where as well. It would also bounce up & down then quit. I'd bet the farm your speedo is toast.
