I'm getting ready to change out my IAC on my 2002 Explorer. The OEM part number is 2R3Z-9F715-AA (CX-1785)...or sometimes listed as 9F715-AA. I'd get the Motocraft part if it were cost effective but at $174 I'm taking another look around. O'Reiley, AdvanceAuto, and AutoZone come in at around $79.99. BWD (Borg-Warner) is the manufacturer. Does anyone have any good input on if BWD makes a good IAC? Or do you have another recommendation?

I have never had any issues with aftermarket IAC valves, so I would stick to whatever is cost effective.

I picked one up at LKQ last week, $25 off a 2009 taurus. Works perfect, looks like new. They have locations all over florida, google there Crystal River location and have it shipped to you if they don't have a place in orlando to pick it up (they ship free their locations). They don't go wrong that often so I wouldn't see why getting a used one would be a bad thing.

I have only had bad experiences with the Auto Zone branded IAC's. it just did not idle right. Found a motorcraft one on Amazon for $50. no problems since.

I read enough posts on other forums that didn't have a lot of nice things to say about the IACs at AutoZone made by Wells. I ended up going with an AdvancedAuto IAC made by BWD (Borg-Warner). Cost was $76.99 but they had an online coupon for 20% off...so $61.59 and picked it up at a local AdvancedAuto. I was unable to pick up an Ebay "Motocraft" part for less as I am time constrained because of the IAC dieing on me while 500 miles from home.

It would appear that BWD is a supplier of IACs to Ford/Motocraft. I compared the factory original IAC that I was replacing with the BWD IAC from AdvancedAuto. They are identical including every last crevice of the metal component as well the plastic moldings are identical in every way. This never happens with "second source" parts. Also, I noted that the BWD IAC is Made in the USA for those concerned about "cheap Chinese" replicas.

I have had poor luck with Wells parts I have used in the past. I was unaware they made IAC valves, but it sounds like you did well to go with Borg-Warner. Glad to hear it is fixed.
