Hey I'm back after a little absence (if anybody remembers). Bought an ST because I needed a truck again. I was at another forum but most of them are suburban commandos who do nothing but haul their kids to soccer practice. Anyway, I've got shackles coming and am doing the TT lift when ever they arrive. I'm putting on 265/75/16 tires but I want to know what everybody thinks about Mickey Thompsons. (MTX) Desertrat has them pretty cheap, even cheaper than I can get them at work. They look like a good balance for on/off road driving. Also, if there's any other tires you'd recommend. I really HATE these Goodyears.

:D Here's an offer you can't refuse. Go to the explorer related polls forum and check out the longest lasting tire poll. If my memory serves me right someone said the Micky-T's MTX don't last long at all.

PS I know what you mean by hating the good years. I have had my BFG's for a month now and I love them.

Go with BFG's

My brother had the MTX's on his truck. He said they wore ok for awhile but not like BFG's. He bought the MTX's because they looked cool and he got a good price. I am in the market for new tires and he won't let me get anything but the BFG's! Since he's also my mechanic...I better listen!
Seriously, I had the BFG's on my Cherokee and I never rotated them, had a front end alignment, or rarely checked air pressure and they lasted a long time.
Hope that helps,
Mike
-ps-
Goodyears DO suck!

Hey Godfather, I knew you couldn't stay away. :p
Well the Mickey Thompsons look nice, but you just can't beat the BFG KO's in tire wear or function.
Welcome home. It's good to have you back.:)

I missed having a truck on ski trips and I started kayaking this year, 4 kayaks just don't look good on top of a Taurus. My next few weeks paychecks are already spent thanks to Ricks post about the ST lift. My first day back and I'm a couple thousand in the hole. This place got HUGE!!!

Guess that's a no on the Mickeys...no wonder they're on sale.

I had the Mickey Thompson baja belted hp tires, wasn't impressed with either the ride, durability, looks, or tread wear of the tire. I wasn't really disappointed either, just not impressed. especially with how much they cost...
