Yet again I need to do the Pads and front discs (30k miles on current set)

Based on the mileage I do, Kwikfit's offer to 'replace discs and brakes' FOC for as long as I own the car is a good deal (or is it ;)).

Has anyone used them for brake work, would you recommend them? comments on the quality?

cheers

Jim

hi Jim
is it a good deal ? well that would depend on the price and if they have a get out clause. i cant see them putting new discs and pads on every year for say the next five years if you did 30k a year and needed new discs and pads every year. most likely 10k a year and they think most customers will sell the car before they need to be replaced. how good the work most likely varies from branch to branch even which fitter you get. you know there's got to be a catch. cheers Chris

hi
why not do them yourself, very easy job indeed
get parts from ebay

hi Alan

Done it many times, my only motivation is for kwickfit to fit new pads on my car FOC twice a year until I hit 300k miles :D

If it were me i would try one last time myself and use greenstuuf EBC, heard many good things about their stopping power and longevity. Avaiable on ebay for £44 for the front and a little less for the rear.

If you go down the kwickfit route then read the small print before and check the brand of pads etc

I checked with Kwik-Fit and as we suspected there are caviats to the deal, the big one is the mileage restriction of 12k per year (took the guy at the local branch 2 hours to find the T's and C's.

So DIY as usual, I like the look of the EBC kit, is there much difference between their ultimax and green stuff? also looking at their discs at £130 are they again worth the extra (standard fronts for £70)
