If there's anybody out there with a class III hidden hitch (preferable on a 98-01) is there anyway you can get me pics of the way it mounts? I need to know if my exhaust will interfere with it. Thanks.

I have that same hitch, unfortunately I don't have a camera. But I did just get duals installed and it doesen't interfere. The hitch tucks up there pretty high. If you want you can take a snap of your exhaust and post it. I'll have a look and compare it to mine.

I have the same hitch on a 99; no problems with exhaust.

It's not the best picture but I hope it helps.

Thanks for the pic X-factor.

So this bolts to the inside of the frame as opposed to the outside? If that's the case I'll be fine.

Tonga3.... Here's a link to some pics of my exhaust. They run thru the leaf and the frame and exit on the outside of the frame rails, so I think I'll be ok. Just wanted to check before I ordered it.

Thanks.

I could tow it off the bumper because the whole thing only weighs like 500lbs, but the toung of the trailer is low and I need it to be level and I really don't want to tow off the bumper anyway.

i have the reeese hidden hitch and it doesnot even touch the exhaust. i can even fit a 31 under there.

Ok. Thanks for your help guys.

Next question... wiring.
I heard that I have a plug under my drivers side tail light for trailer lights. I looked under there and there was a grey plug there. Is that what I need to use? If that's it then I assume I just have to buy a harness that plugs into that and then has a plug on the other end that sits by the hitch. Then there's a harness for the trailer (which only has 2 bulbs incase that matters) and that plugs into the new piece on the truck? Where did you guys get yours? How much am I looking at?
Thanks.

Oh, one other question about the hidden hitch. When I looked up hitches all the other brands said no drilling required but hidden hitch didnt say that. Am I going to have to drill?

If what you are getting is like mine then you don't need any drilling at all. It uses existing holes.

Sorry, can't help on wiring.

That plug should be the wires you need. Go to a hitch dealer for an adapter.

There is no drilling with the Hidden Hitch,

Good luck.....

Ford sells a kit that plugs into the grey connector you found behind the tailight. It includes a wiring harness and a mounting bracket for the 4 pin connector (mounts to existing holes in bumper). I think it cost around $25

So what do you guys think about the wiring kit in that auction I linked? It says no splicing, cutting or soldering so I assume it just all clips right in. No?

This type of harness makes it A LOT easier. They are truly "plug and play."

Cool. now which one will I need? They have one for people with the factory tow package and one without. I don't understand why that has anything to do with it if everyone has the plug under the tail light... unless not everyone has that plug. Also, it doesnt look like it comes with any wires for the trailer.

I think the one in that auction is the same thing. What do you think?

Get the one from Ford - You will be happy. This is the same harness/bracket you would get if you had the factory tow package. The one you are looking at has no bracket to mount the 4 pin connector - the Ford one goes into pre-existing holes on the bumper so it will look stock.

I'm not too worried about the mounting bracket. I dont want it mounted to the bumper anyhow. I'll make something else to mount it further under. Does this 4 prong connector have a line for reverse lights or not?
