Hey guys,

When i drain my oil, the stream of oil hits the suspension and gets everywhere. I was just curious if anyone else had this problem. No biggie, it'll be fixed the next time i change my oil, I ordered a Fumoto drain plug the other day, the one with the nipple on it so i can slip a hose over it and drain it with no mess. Happy Trails!!

A real simple solution would be to get a Fumato Oil Drain plug ( with the nipple ) and you can attach a piece of 3/8" hose to it and drain it into any container without spilling a single drop.

Yeah, im waitin for it now, i hope to have it installed by next saturday. Its definately worth the money, for all the trouble it saves.

I use a piece of cardboard to deflect the oil.

Invest $14 in SURE-DRAIN SD2 by Fram. It replaces the stock drainplug with a valve and cover. To drain, uncrew the protective coner by hand, them screw on the drain hose. The hose opens the valve and directs the oil inot your collection container. Available at AutoZone, Pep Boys and Advance Auto.

My pan drains just fine...the plug opening is clear of any structures. My problem is the mess when I remove the oil filter. I try using deflecting materials, rags, etc., but there's always some spillage that gets on the cross suspension and torsion bar.

Loosen the filter and then slip a 1 gal zip loc bag over the filter, continue to unscrew. No mess whatsoever.

I sometimes (depending on my mood) punch a hole in the bottom of the filter to let it drain before I remove it.

I'm with Al on this. A ziploc baggie works great and cost is minimal.

Speaking off the filter issue, Al, how is changing your oil now with the relocation (Up front)...Watching your success (Or failure) B4 doing it to mine.

Same here. I tried Al's tip and now I don't spill a drop. BTW I have the fumoto also, but w/out the nipple. Drains straight down into catch pan anyway.

The filter up front is a tranny filter. It will work the same with the baggie. I havn'e changed this filter yet.

I relocated my filter (see pic below). It's right in front of the wheel and the phrase "easily accesible" is an understatement. Oil changes take 5 minutes, and most of htat is waiting for it to drain...
