Okay, since I bought the truck, I haven't had to drive in the rain on the expressway. But yesterday it rained a pretty good amount here, and on my way to pick up a friend I had to drive on the expressway, and over like 50mph the wipers didn't wipe s**t!!!! They're brand new, only 2 months old. Anyone else have this problem?

Nope.
Two words for you my friend ,

Rain-X !!!!!

( okay two words and a letter , you get me )

no. but i have a '96 and the contacts are going on the washer fluid, you know when you push in

yea i had the stock wipers too, and they did pretty much nothing. although since it rains about 2 times a year in cali... but i just got some no name brand double bladed ones and they do a MUCH better job than the crappy stock. like $10 blade assemblies will be a much greater improvment.

I think that's what I'm trying next...

Agh! Do rain-x on every window BUT the front. Any birdsh*t or anything you get on your window... well... its not pretty if its there for long. Plus after the rain-x effect wears off, its not as effective the next time, nor are your wipers (in my experience).

If all else fails, clean the window REALLY well, and upgrade to some REALLY good wipers like PIAAs... I can't imagine why they wouldn't work well unless you have a terrible windshield.

Nate, I'm not following you as to why its bad to put rain-x on the windshield. I put it on about 3 or 4 times a year and with that I hardly even need to use my wipers.

When it wears off, don't you notice your wipers (even new ones) to become increasingly 'streaky' on your winsheild? And after about the 3rd application, didn't you feel like it wasn't working as good? IDK, mabey it is because it was on a '92's window, or mabey it is the baking heat of florida... but I swear, after about the 3rd application, it was pretty messy. Mabey I'll try some on this new windshield... since it already has 2 tiny cracks in it, I'll probably end up getting it replaced in the long run anyways.

On mine, the driver's side wiper skips noisily. I even tried switching wiper arms and it still does it. I use Bosch Micro Edge Excel. The Anco's did it too. I can only conclude that my truck has an off windshield.

Yes it sounds like your windsheild is going bad. Do you have anywhere that will check your windsheild for free? We have a place here that will give you a box of steaks if you let them check it, and you replace it. They do check it for free. IDK, if it doesn't bother you, your'e probably okay... but man, I hate streaky windshields, it's one of my biggest car pet-peeves.

a box of steaks? like meat steaks? mmmmmm

Yea I'm a perfectionist, and it bugs the hell outta me. I'll probably try new wipers first, and then see where it goes from there.

It is indeed a replacement windshield.

It is probably not perfectly formed but I can live with it I guess. :(

I have been using Rain-X since the late eighty's
( on various vehicles )
I do know what you mean Nate , try hitting the windshield with some #0000 grit steel wool , then cleaning it ,then applying the Rain-X.
It is my guess is ,Rain-X does not like beeing put on top of old Rain-X. Since I hhave started doing that I have not had the symptoms you described.

Ive got a weird problem with my wipers. when I have them on intermitent theyre all of a sudden develop a mind of thier own and start going faster and then theyre slow down. does it every once and while. im thinking its switch. I know rangers had a similiar problem but the wipers would just turn on, on thier own.

I'm pretty sure there was a recall for this... something about sporadic wipers and other electrical problems in the dash. I'm really not sure if this is your problem... but try entering your VIN on one of those sites that will list your applicable recalls... I think that may be your problem.

Yeah, I think you can do that on fords website.

Another thing... have you had the "buzz" happen with your blinker lever? Theres something with the multifunction switch that isnt right and when you turn your blinker on, it makes this loud buzzing noise and has been know to set the steering column on fire! It happened to me once and I did see a little smoke come out of the base of the switch and it smelled like burnt plastic. I called ford to ask if there was a recall on it, because I had read about it happening to other people on here, and they said no and that I should bring it in to have them check it out. He said I could have a melted wire or something in the steering column. I never took it in... probably not too smart, heh.
