My father is from Vernon, Oklahoma. THat's near McAlister, OK. He's told me plenty of stories from back when he lived in OK before coming out to CA in the early 1950's. For instance, when pickups got stuck in the mud, him and his friends used horses to pull the trucks out! We own quite a few acres of land in this area, and I heard that when it rains, all of these dirt roads turn in to muddy quamyers that are best if not traveled on without 4 wheel drive. You're going to have a blast out in OK!

Hey mrboyle

I lived in Stillwater for a few years while I attended OSU. Anyway, I still have a lot of family there and visit there at least once a year. What are you going to be doing there?

Brett
I have a friend going to OSU and decided since I finally graduated and have nothing tieing me to Prescott anymore that I would check out a new part of the country. I plan to put my ASE certification to use (finally).

I live in Oklahoma City. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and love to offroad in it. There are some great places to offroad in Oklahoma. Get in touch and maybe we can get together.

Sorry, I moved to Colorado in '01! Clayton is still one of my favorite wheeling destinations, but I seriousley doubt I'll get back there any time soon. I never did find any good places to wheel around Stillwater that weren't on private property (seems like thats all there is in OK). There was one place near Ripley but they closed off the access to it. The only other places I know of are Poteau (sp?) and Disney, but like Clayton, they are a long way from OKC.
Keep an eye on this site http://www.samsoffroad.com/ Watch for the next Novice Run. Sam and his crew are some of the best people and put on one hell of a run.
If you ever plan a trip to Colorado or Moab let me know and I'll be glad to join you.
