Sorry, can't help you on that one. I can leave my keys in the ignition, doors unlocked and a stack of $100 bills on the dash out in my area without worrying too much.

Viper a great alarm, if not top of the line really...

I say go for it.

I love my 2 way alarm / remote start.

Viper 5901

Yup... I got the Viper 5901 that I installed myself (No Warranty sadly), but it works and works well (maybe too well - just need to turn the sensitive down a bit on the shock sensor). I did end up buying the Bit Writer for it to program in the Glass sensor. The tilt sensor was plug and play. I also hid a push to start/"wait for me, leave it running" button ;).

I have a Viper 300ESP installed in my Paseo. A buddy who installed car stereos and alarms did the install, with some minor help from me.

When I bought mine though a connection of that buddy mentioned above, I think I paid around $100 for the alarm, bunch of misc connectors for installation, and the Master Sheet from DEI for my Paseo. At the time, I think shops were advertising $299 installed.

If you do go with the Viper alarm, make sure to get, or find the Master Sheet from DEI for your vehicle. You might be able to find one online. It will tell you what color wire, what it is, and where you can find it. I have one for my Paseo, and it made things easy.

Keep in mind that alarms are a deterrent, not a guarantee. If someone really wants your stuff, they will get it. A buddy of mine had an alarm while he lived in Phoenix. Broad daylight, alarm is blaring, people taking stuff out of his car, and nobody did nothing. I am sure if someone did something, there pry would have been repercussions.

Maybe consider a custom install, so you can hide or disguise your head unit. A thief will give a quick look inside, but will pry move on to another vehicle if they see an OEM head unit.

so just a update .. im going monday and going to check out the viper 3203

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Viper-3...ty_Systems&hash=item25739b1058#ht_2325wt_1398

for the price its a very good deal .. especially if bought serpately and you have it installed somewhere professionally .. along with the alarm i will be buying the glass breakge add on which has special frequencies to know if my windows get broken into and will sound the alarm

once i install everything and i have the added security i want i will be buying a in dash GPS system .. cannot wait!

I actually ordered the viper 3203 off ebay along with the glass breaker audio sensor

long story short, while at home someone acttually attempted to break into my neighbors car.. my mother actually caught them and scared them off but after that.. alarm with all the bells and whistles

plus i bought bilstein shocks and those alone between how well i keep my truck im not getting broken into

Let me know how that viper system works out. Looking for a good system for the explorer and expedition. Someone stole the gas cap off the expedition while my girlfriend was in CVS, just out in the parking lot...

shadow, if u want the best alarm i can find its the viper but get the glass sensor.. if u think u need it but as for a alarm without the remote start.. the 3203 is the best, if u want a remote start along with it i believe its the 5901

My truck came with an AutoMate alarm and I have to say I do enjoy it. Whoever had it installed definitely took some time and spent some insane money in the process because everything is tidy and together, the wires are run neat and very organized, and it's tied into the factory alarm and remote as well. I just wish I knew the story behind it because it seems awfully nice for even a shop to do...

Glass sensors is a must. Her Grand Cherokee was broken into a week after christmas last year and they stole a bunch of stuff (including my GPS) so if we go aftermarket glass is a must.

She's not too concerned about Remote Start, where as I am. I'm considering going with one of the Scytek 2-way alarms and remote start for the Explorer.

Automate is made by DEI (same company that makes Vipers) and is usually limited to new car dealers. My mom had one installed on her 2000 Grand Caravan when her and my father purchased it new. The alarm was great, and having remote start 12 years ago really made you seem fancy lol.

Thanks for that info bud. I knew they were made by DEI, but didn't know it had anything to do with Viper or new car dealers. Like I said, our jaws still drop anytime we go under the truck by the kickpanel or do anything with the remote since its so clean and professional there and the time somebody invested to really grab its potential. You'd think it would be just kinda there and all over since it's a spot or thing nobody really does anything to.

I appreciate the new info and good luck on whatever alarm you end up going with. Most of them out there seem to be halfway decent, but obviously some better than others.

Whatever you do just make sure to go with a brand name like viper, compustar, python. Just stay away from the small companies like bulldog or ebay brands.
