They are a police supply house that sells police electronics. Getting something fitted for a 94 Ex is going to be difficult. They were never really used for police work much.
hey i got a bigger speaker then that and its mounted on the bottom bumper of my 97 x its a Able 2 100 Watt Siren Speaker (kinda looks like the ones on the ambulances)but not really we had to customize the bracket and tie wrap it down lol but it works..anywayz its right there next to the fog lamps on the inside(where there was a big opening..hope this helps u.
rscalzo, would you take a picture of the Explorer mounting? I'm looking for a siren for my Ranger. Our front strucutres are similar but Ranger's don't have a upper rad sight shield like the Explorers have. Federal says it uses two of that shields holes for their bracket. I wanted to see how low down it hangs over the upper rad support.
I would have glady taken a photo be I retired last year and moved out of state. All I can tell you is that we used the standard Federal mounting unit for their MS100 speakers. Maybe Federal can help out with some documentation. We no longer have the 97 unit, only the 03...
Thanks for the quick reply. I've got the installation instructions from Federal's website, but not the lenght of the bracket. I'll give them a phone call and ask how long it is.
Looks better than outs did. The standard mount wasn't right up against the grill and down lower somewhat. I always heard complaints about how muffeled the sound was but nothing could be done. All of the newer vehicles have such small grill openings now that it cuts off much of the blast. We were told mounting in the lightbar was out due to OSHA regulations. Plus todays newer LED lightbards are too thin to use in mounting speakers.
