hey has anybody ever had any work done by Quality Auto Sound? did they do good work? they quoted me at $176 w/tax for four kenwood 2-way speakers for my x, installed! but my friend told me that they quoted him really low for a deck then when he picked up his car the price was raised because they had to use all sorts of "special" kits and crap.

Yeah, explorers have expensive kits and harnesses... Buy from Crutchfield and you get that stuff free (gotta plug my employeer). Which speakers? That ain't too bad since labor will prolly be $70 for 4 speakers. They may slap with for paying for speaker adapters since our trucks need them. By the way, which fraternity? (I'm Delta Sig, thats why I ask)

i think most shops charge about 30-40 per part.. so a head unit install would be 30-40. then each speaker is 30-40. and so on. the plastic surround kits usually cost 10-15 dollars, and a wireharness if needed is about 10-15.

Do it yourself

Or buy from Crutchfield and get everything you need for free and instructions on how to do it yourself. Trust me, changing speakers in our trucks is easy. The Crutchfield Mastersheet has 3D drawings/pics of exactly how things come apart. Thats how I taught myself, and I was able to get MECP certified. Just my 0.02

I recently had a decked out alarm/remote start/windows up-down etc. installed by quality auto sound. They really tried to make everything right but I will never shop there again. Basically, first shop took two days to work on it (didn't even get started til about 4:00 pm that day) after telling me it would be done in two, then when I picked it up there was a variety of things not working on it, spoke with the regional manager, took it way out of my way to let them work on it for another full day, they got a lot of stuff fixed but still the windows up/down wasn't working completely, let them work on it for ANOTHER day and they still didn't get it working right. They gave me $85 for my trouble. Though I feel I wasn't ripped off just pissed they couldn't get something they sold me working right.
