I can't seem to find as many archived threads as I did before on this, but its the 93-97 ranger lower front valance with the fog lights.

Anyone have this installed with some good pics? Whats involved with the install process? drilling etc...how did you paint it to match..

Wow, I was going to respond that it would never fit, seeings how the 1st gen Ex's are squared in front, and the 93-97 Rangers are more rounded...

BUT, I went out to the garage and dug up my old foglight valance (93 Ranger), and held it up the the bottom of our 92 Ex, and it appears it would fit almost perfectly! At most, you'd have to drill a few holes in the bottom edge of the bumper.

Here are some pictures. I found it to be pretty easy to install, I started mounting in the center and then working my way to the outer edges of the bumper as they need to be pulled inward slightly to be mounted. It follows the bumper fairly well and looks good with some foglights.

Looks pretty good.

looks awesome! Ok so give me the low down on whats involed. How many holes did you drill, what size bolts etc etc.

hey , I like the clear lenses..

I dont have a pic, but I found some nice rectangular fog lights and installed them in my existing valance. It looks like a factory job IMO. I will try to get a pic and post it.

Even though I don't have the factory foglights, is the wiring harness still there? (if I were to get the dash part that has the button like on the limiteds)

Thanks for the complaments guys. For mounting I first centered it on the bumper and held it in place with some c-clamps. I then made two new holes throught the bumper and valance, one on each side of the opening, and fastened it to the bumper using some 3/8 hardware. After the center most portion was mounted I started on the sides, it has to be flexed a bit to follow the contour of the bumper so it helps to have an extra set of hands. After it was mocked-up in place I drilled another hole as far to the end of the bumper and secured it with a 3/8 bolt. The final bolt was then located between the first and third to help pull the valance up against the bumper. I then taped off the bumper and painted the valance after it was on the explorer because i didn't want to end up scratching it. As for the foglights, I used a set of 5" procomp stainless. I then wired the lights up to a relay in the and then a switch inside.
Hope this helps.

How about this same valance on a 96-97 explorer? Any pics? Might look pretty good as the valance on 96-97 has square fog lights......Don't mean to hijack but I'm curious.....

That is a sweet look for the X.

without a doubt one of the better looks for sure, kinda updates the frontend somewhat. Still no answer on my light switch question though! :)

i just installed an aftermarket switch in the stock location. I'm sure you could wire in the factory switch with the correct bezel if you want. I don't remember taking note if the factory harness was there when i put my switch in

How did you guys start moutning in the center? There looks to be no center piece to actually mount...it has that center open gap...I'm a bit confused.

that looks damn good.

i've also wondered how easy the 93-97 ranger valance would bolt up to a '95-98 explorer..hmm

Guys these things sell on ebay for like 12-13 bucks, grab one and stick it on a 2nd gen :)

What fog lights to use? How are they mounted? Does the valance have built in mounting setup for adding fog lights? I want something that will really help with night time driving....and be legal of course :)
