Anyone know what this vent is?

I pulled my dashboard to replace a light in the instrument cluster. One of the covers has this vent, with a tube and wiring connector on the inside. I can't find anything on this, anyone know what this could be? Thanks

If you have climate control heat/AC system then the temperature sensor is likely behind that grill

That is the interior temp sensor for your climate control.

that is where you instal the chloroform theft system.... ford could not legally add it as an option but they knew the need and gave us the vent
