I am wondering if anyone makes a true hidden hitch for the 2nd gen Explorer. meaning one that is completely hidden unless you are using it. I have seen them on other vehicles but not on a Explorer. I am looking for it for my 96 Limited. I don't want the hitch to be seen.

Unfortunately, there is no off the shelf product like you want. All of them hang below the bumper to some degree. Some older hitches were more hidden, but aren't made anymore to my knowledge because of the 16" wheels and issues with spare clearance.

A good fab shop should be able to build one so long as you don't mind hacking a hole in your bumper behind your license plate, much like a roll pan bumper. It may require a custom longer drawbar as well.

I may talk to my friend who is going to do the suspension system on my 95 about a hitch on the limited. he has all the tools of the trade to do it. It doesn't have to be that heavy duty I mainly want it to tow my Harley in the bad weather ( read, snow).
