Hey all. I was looking at synthetics at Wal-Mart and noticed that they had a Supertech Synthetic. I know Supertech is the Wal-Mart brand and is bottled by any number of petroleum companies, but has anyone tried this? Is it a decent oil? Thanks all.

Well, I used some to finish off filling up my rear differential when I ran out of my Royal Purple. For the most part oil is oil. But you're also looking at the detergents that are added to keep the engine running cleaner longer, any synthetic is probably better than dyno oil. I've been running Mobil 1 5w-30 Truck & SUV in mine and Royal Purple mixed with the Supertech in the rear 75w-140. Honestly I probably could've run the Supertech alone because I didn't need the limited slip additive. So really kinda up to you at that point, all oil is just oil at the base, it's the additives that make the difference in brands. I'd personally just buy the 5qts of Mobil 1 for the engine and if you're refilling a differential maybe go with the SuperTech. Since they don't need to get the same kind of attention. Just my 2 cents.

Personally wouldn't go with wal-mart brand.
I'd stick with someone who's been doing it for a long time.

But i've bought all kinds of wal-mart brand **** NOT related to automobiles and stuff always seems just as good as other higher priced brands.

Motor oil or gear oil though.....ehh i dunno, it's your call.

Oil is oil though......but still.....
