Does anyone know why the top half of our grille is blocked off by a thin piece of black plastic? Anyone try to dremel or otherwise cut this out to allow more airflow to the intercooler and rad?

That is your radiator support air deflector ... it's supposed to be there cutting that area out is not a wise move

There’s a reason it’s there. They wouldn’t add cost to raise temps and make a vehicle less likely to make it out of the warranty period.

To prevent overcooling, or to direct air, most likely. I’m sure the engineering behind it is more solid than your not thinking it should be there.

It’s actually there to hinder performance. I suggest you remove it, ASAP. I’m sure your dealer would applaud the decision should one of your turbos lunch itself.

The same engineering that gave us felt skid plates, a plastic drain plug, and an augmented Vroom Vroom sound, the quality of which rivals my 3-year-old’s portable steering wheel by Hasbro lol?

In all sincerity, none of your or RickyG’s earlier messages (which did provide some insight) showed up on my phone so my apologies for the earlier snarky response.

They aren’t skid plates.

The plastic drain plug was likely a cost saving measure or is better for their robotic install.

The fake motor sounds are stupid, but for them it’s “free” and some people fall for stupid things.
