I have used Oil Analyzers for 3 years. A sample kit will run you $19.95. You can e-mail me if you have more questions.

YES, I USE BLACKSTONE

I posted this on the Ford Ranger board yesterday:

http://www.blackstone-labs.com/. They send you a two-pack kit for free. You mail the small bottle back with a check or money order for $18.50 (might be $18.95). About a week later you will get the report in the mail. I have used them for my last two oil changes on my Explorer. The thing I like about them is that someone actually looks at the numbers and writes a paragraph or two explaining what they mean on your engine and explains any differences between the current sample and the last sample. They keep a record of what you have sent them so they can track it.

For instance my first change was a little higher than normal on some type of metal. They mentioned it in my report, however they said that since everything else looked great they didn't think it was anything to be concerned about. They recommended getting another analysis at the next change interval. I did send in my next sample. This time I had about 5K miles since my last oil change, however it was about 3K highway miles during a one-week vacation to Colorado. The metal that was slightly high in the first sample was way down from the previous sample. They thought it was unusual since I had more miles on this sample than the previous sample. I got concerned that the copper content had gone way up. However Blackstone said that was normal with Quaker State since it is an additive used in Quaker State oils. They concluded that my engine is in excellent condition for 76K miles. The report also tells you your PPM in fuel, anit-freeze. There is a sample report on their web-site. I am going to start using them for every other oil chang on mine.

I've used Blackstone on my 7.3 Ford Diesel SD.
Good comprehensive report.
Believe if you mention where you got there name, they might discount the cost a little.
