NEON MADNESS

Oh hell YEAH!!!! i love that look. You have some serious $ in those lights. I have helped my bro inlaw with all his neons, still workin on it but they are lookin good, but yours are serious... for the underbody kit did you do anything to get a better glow or is that just the regular brightness?
Maybe being higher off the ground gives them a chance to cast more light, we used the Blue Series underbody and they give a lot of glow but that is tight on yours. My bro just sent me a message, he has been wanting the lights in his vents and when he saw yours he asked me to find out how you wired them up? Also the hotwirez... what is the deal with those? I know what they are but how do you set them up, we have no good shops around here so i haven't been able to hold or look at a set up close, as far as wiring and such.
Oh and i wanted to ask somone else that was into neons ... in theory a light puts out "x" candlepower.. right and the reflection of that light should be the same right?.... so if one was to back a neon tube and aim the reflection at an angle they would get twice the glow right?..... or am i just blowin smoke.

As for my underbody neons, i mounted them to the running boards (a little below the bottom of the explorer), thus i have achieved such a good glow. Some people who have their neons mounted on explorers, do not have running boards, therefore they are forced to stuff them high up under the frame, and alot of glow is lost. My neons are mounted below the frame, so all the neons glow is used.

For the two strobes in my center front vents...what i did, was unscrew the entire radio/ac/heat/vent front face. I pulled it out, and then the vent is exposed. You will see, that when the face of the radio thingy is taken off, that there are some holes running from the glove compartment to the radio. Thus, i pulled down the glove compartment (like, i disconnected it - when you pull out the glove compartment, it gets jammed on something so it will not dump everything on the ground...i did it so that i made it do this (dump everything on the ground) This way, i was able to mount the transformer for the stroebs in a space behind the glove compartment, and run the two strobes up to the vents.

Those are only temporary. Within a week, im gonna be ordering a set of purple, a set of green, and one purple and one green headlight neon.

Im going to put the green headlight neons in my front passanger side vent, and the right vent of the front center console, and the left vent of the back vents.

For the purple, im going to put them in the drivers side vent, the left front center vent, and the back right vent. Should look sweet!

As for making your neons brighter...technically what you say should be correct. Over at the SG message board...we had a disscussion of this awhile back. Some people have use foil, or other metalic substances to bounce the neon light back to the ground. Most say it actually does increase the brightness.

However, a couple people said screw that and have installed numerous underbody kits...i probably won't have to do that, cause their trying to achieve the glow that i have....and i only have one underbody kit!!!

Im glad other people have neons on their explorers...dosen't make me feel so much like a loser..... Im the only kid at my school with 3+ neons...and like the only kid in my town with underbody neons...but hey, im unique!!! haha

I have some neons inside too but they will not turn out in pics. I thought about the grille idea like you did, but I've been told I will get pulled over for that, plus it looks difficult to do, so.. forget that I guess

Actually, any neons are illegal where i live (illinois).

Also, it wasen't to hard to instal the front grill neon.

the law here is that your tubes cannot be seen.. although its not very well enforced.. I've had these for about 3 years now

Hey darkfox did u install urs under running boards like bmxboy or is it tucked under the frame? urs look like they give off a pretty good glow

they're attached to the runningboards right where the L brackets taht hold the boards on bend.

I've gotten a new camera since that pic..

this is more of what they really look like:

k tite those look awesome. are those streetglow neo-blue?

hey bmx boy i got a question, i just bought some apc strobes and installed them successfully, but on the switch there are 2 prongs, one is for the hot wire and one is for the ground im guessing, but when i try the switch it doesn't turn them off, help!

I believe one is for power and the other is for the accesseory (neon). The only time there should be 3 prongs is when a past of the switch lights up.

BMXboy, check yer Pm's.
