Apple car play and fb messenger

I have a 2020 ST and Apple CarPlay works pretty well in it but I would really like to be able to utilize the text messaging from Facebook messenger instead of traditional text messaging. I have seen there are multiple workarounds but I am unaware if they are valid and if I should even be going there. I’d really like to hear about everyone’s experiences or not and thoughts on ways to be able to use Facebook messenger through Apple CarPlay. Just a note, the android CarPlay allows Facebook messenger and I just assumed that Apple would as well, silly me. Thanks!

Apple has to allow the Facebook app to use the messaging function in CarPlay and Facebook has to implement it.

They may have fixed it because suddenly when I ask Siri to text someone-she goes through messenger instead. I didn’t notice at first until I was trying to meet up with a friend for lunch and she wasn’t getting my texts telling her where I was parked
