Are Mountaineer Bumpers interchangable with Explorer Bumpers?

Has anyone tried switching an EX/MM bumper with an explorer sport bumper? Is the backing the same?

98 Explorer/Mountaineer

I like the fog lamp assembly better.

i beleive you can, but you have a 98 so you need a few things:

1. New pumper.
2. Bumper shell. Thats those 2 pics you have. they don't fit over the older (95-98) bumpers.
3. fog light mounting pad

as i know you have to purchase mounting pads for the fog lights (about $120 i think). I'm not sure if the MM bumper and pads are the same as the X, and the shell is different or whether the whole setup is different.
