are the 95+ explorer an 98+ ford ranger front ends exactly the same??? are the a-arms interchangable????

I am asking because I am sick of my explorer express lowering kit/torsion bars....

I found a 3-4" lowering kit for a 98+ ranger that replaces the a-arms and uses coil springs/or airbags instead. I am not sure if it will fit my explorer though.... also my explorer i AWD so I really dont know if it would fit-

anyone have any clues???

I have a '98 ranger...and I swapped in some late model parts (axle and such) into it from an explorer...no prob..bolts right in.....If you want to make measurements...I'll compare them against my ranger for ya.....

I think that drop kit is for a 2wd ranger, it will not fit your AWD.

95+ explorers are similar to the 98+ rangers, but 98+ explorers and 98+ rangers will be the closest match.

If the Ranger drop kit uses coils or bags, you won't be able to use it. Your axle shafts for your AWD will be in the way.

the kit uses coil springs..... but is there anyway I could use a coil over shock in place of the spring to allow my axles to pass through??

It's possible, but the coilover would probably have to be custom made, which probably won't be cheap. If you've got the money to throw at it, take it to a custom shop and see what they can do with it. You'll be surprised.

I agree with Stephen. The drop you are going for is more on the custom side.
