It was all going so freaking good until today. I went to tighten the two bolts on the top of the water pump with a torque wrench and snap...broke! I'm going to have to take the pump back off of course and i'll probably loose the gasket which was a pita to get postioned. I guess the only thing to do is to use a bolt extractor and get them out or drill them out and retap them. ARG...what a pain!

on the up side...the expo has a new dent in it courtsy of my fist lol...starting to look more like a trail rig all the time

Well I've taken off the water pump and the gasket and rtv came off really clean, I think another bead of rtv and it will still be good to use. Also, after taking the wp off I found that the bolts didn't break off flush with the block. I'm pretty sure one will be able to be taken out with a pair of vice grips. The other one might, but it's abit shorter so maybe if I slot it with the dremel I can use a flathead to take it out. Might not be as bad as I thought...but not fun in any case :(

I've found that instead of trying to slot a bolt, if enough of it is showing grind two flats on the sides and use a box-end wrench...it's less likely to split. The torque-to-yield (TTY) bolts on the head of a 4 clylinder have done the same thing to me when I tried to reuse them (not supposed to try, I was warned).
