So this past summer I had my transfer case, front differential and rear bearing replaced (by the guy who recently tried to "create" a problem with my tranny by draining 4 quarts out of it [04 mountaineer V8 AWD] and saying the shifting afterwards was crappy cause it was going).
Anyway, about a month after I started hearing a howling like noise in the back, I guess the best way to describe it is: like putting a large shell up to your ear- the kind of beach wind noise-howl sound. I took it back to the place and he said he has no clue what it could be cause he "replaced" the bearings. He said to keep driving till it gets worse.
Well I hit a curb with my back right wheel and it's gotten worse...seems like there's slight grinding now... worse at higher speeds to almost non existent at low speed..any ideas?
Also is it easy to tell if they were replaced? I'm going to take it to a new place and want them to inspect everything the other guy worked on. Thanks in advance for the input.
