around what mileage do MAFS need replacing?

I am going to try to clean mine but was wondering how ling they last?

any tips on cleaning them?

I have some O2 sensors reading bad...three at once...which I assume its something else. I have a miss at high RPM's on revving in neutral and a not so smooth take off.

I am going to try the pvc elbow if I can find it...and maybe try a fuel filter. plus seafoam and injector cleaners.

I have 165k on my original one. Just pull it apart from the stock air cleaner and spray it with electrical parts cleaner. It would probably throw a cel light if it was bad.

its not really a wear item, kind of like saying when does the motherboard in your computer wear out?

thanks. I cleaned mine yesterday...a hair better...but still missing at 4k rpm

agreed on the maf i have thought mine was bad on 2 different occasions but it turned out to be something different each time those things rarely go bad just need a cleaning every now and then. about the miss is it smooth through the other rpm's after take off and before 4k?

we were brain storming about it and thought that maybe, since I had the miss in park, that its hitting a rev limiiter at 4k

I still have a check engine light which I will clear later...but after running the seafoam thru it, it seems a lot stringer.

I bought Mass Airflow Sensor Cleaner from O'Reilly's Auto Parts, it is made by CRC.

It is about $6 a can and well worth it.

I could tell (at 80,000 miles) that my triuck is running smoother and has more power. Also the mileage computer (mpg) is much more accurate. This all makes sense because my MAFS was dirty.

If you are seeing a drop in fuel economy and your computer off by 2 gallons like mine was (it was telling me I used 13 gallons when I pumped in 15). This may be the cause. Now I am only off by 0.1 gallons used according to the computer.

This is a good heads up, as I remember when the truck was new, the computer was very accurate as far as mpg, gallons used, etc.
