Hey everyone,

A run is being planned to Attica, IN, during the weekend of June 24-25 bu some of us midwesterners. Pretty much everything is set, but things change, so all plans are tenative until finalized the week before.

For more details about the run see the last two pages of the Trails in Illinois? thread or email me with your questions or look at the webpage for the park we are planning on going to. http://www.badlandsoffroad.com

The E-mails been sent, should have a response back soon. Hopefully we'll get the answers we want. If you haven't yet, go to the website and check it out, It might be exactly what you are looking for and it might scare the hell out of you. I don't want anyone to go expecting one thing only to find another. I'm glad that this many people are interested, If it all happens, I plan to do both days and camp sat night.

Hence the name "Kampy"?

Sorry, I couldn't resist and I too am excited about the prospect of getting to finally put some names with some faces.

You get an abso-frickin-lutely from me on the attica thing. I wouldn't pass this up for anything!!! There is "kamping" available very near the park, correct? cause thats what i plan on doing too.

Riff, don't start WHINING about how far away Pittsfield is. It's 35 miles closer to you than Attica is.

I never whine!! unless there's cheese involved!!!! mmmmm....cheese...... hehehe..... Dead Link Removed

Riff,

I was going to start a whole long line of ryhme, using the word whine as the basis, but I then I thought, that I don't want to be Dr. Seuss today. Dead Link Removed

Anyway, Kampy, any word from Attica yet on the stock vehicles issue?

Keep us posted.

Ok guys, here's the poop. IT'S ON.

Just talked to Alex at the badlands and the restrictions are biased against FULLSIZE trucks, width is the big problem, more so than length. They have several people with Grand Cherokees that run out there and don't seem to have any significant problems. My best guess is we are about the same physical size???

They have multiple trails ranging in length from an hour to about three hours. There are some that stock vehicles won't be able to do because of clearance issues, unless you want to mangle your undercarriage, but it sounded like there are plenty of places for stock vehicles to play.

The flags attach with a zip tie to your radio antenna and cost $5.00 so that shouldn't be to big of a deal.

Here's the associated costs that I can remember

$15.00 one day admission
$20.00 two day admission
$ 5.00 each passenger
$ 5.00 flag

So 1 day by yourself is $20.00, two days with 3 extra people would be $40.00 . Of course thats plus gas, food, and your sleeping bag. Not free but not as expensive as a tresspassing violation. (just ask Kial)

Should be a great time, I look forward to meeting all of you.

Make sure you have tow hooks front and back! (riff) and bring your spare parts. Email me with any questions you might have and I'll try to get them answered.

I can't wait.

I dunno about you, kampy, but 4 door Explorers have a 111 inch wheelbase, which is just barley over the line. They shouldn't kick up a fit over us. But if they do, im gonna have to bust some skulls!!!!

what is your wheelbase, anyway?

Riff, my wheelbase is 125" but I can make up for a lot with some stupid driving if I have to. I wasn't sure what your WB was, I thought it was about 114". Sorry. Yeah, 4 inches shouldn't make much difference I wouldn't think.

Bring your own skulls to bust, mine has enough dents in it from the factory, don't need any more. And by the way, barley is something they use to brew beer.

What do you mean "spare parts"? What are the odds of something on my truck breaking when I'm 275 miles from home?

But seriously folks, I can't wait to finally put some faces to the names.

Guys...

Ok..it looks like the attica run is official. If you need directions to Attica I would go to http://www.mapquest.com and put in your address and the attica to get directions or look at a map. Otherwise, if people need me too, I can builda website with some general directions.

Dave

P.S. Any suggested meeting places and time yet?

We should establish a time that were going to meet. Depending on what time, I might want to follow you (Andre) down Friday night. It is about a 2.5-hour drive. Big Dave, sense you seam to be the coordinator (whether you like it or not :D ) of this trip, maybe you should establish a meeting place and time. I suggest that we should meet at a local Denny's or similar restaurant for breakfast.

Anyway, just a thought. We still have a few weeks before the outing but we all know how time flies.

you bet I'll be there!!

So it's finally official! I'm glad my name is on the list. Looks like I'll be going friday night and will stay in a nearby motel or something. My wifey is not a sleeping bag - tent kind of girl you know. If anybody else is planning to stay over in a motel let me know, we might pick one so later it'll be easier to get together for some "bragging about our Explorers" and for a brew. I'm marking this date on my calendar.

:D

camera?

Does someone have a good digital camera or camcorder? It would be a shame if no one remembered and we couldn't show everyone what fun it's going to be. Riff came with about 4 pictures when we went to pekin and I didn't even bring a camera, so we ended up with squat from that trip.

I plan on bringing my wife's digital camera. It takes awesome pictures. I wish I had a camcorder!

I'll look into hotels & motels in the area and post that information asap. I will also see about a meeting place for Saturday morning breakfast and coffee (although, I will have milk because I don't drink coffee). I have a good camera that uses regular film (it really takes good pictures riffman and it ended up working when I got home). I plan on bringing that.

One more thing...I am going to have to find a hotel/motel that allows pets as I am bringing the lab.

I'll get that information asap guys...

Dave :)

P.S. this is gonna be fun...
