Hold your horses on that meeting guys! I-65 is (as all the highways in Illinois every year) under construction. We're not in a hurry, I know but that would be a pain the F'ing neck to go bumper to bumper especially with Chicago's rush hour. We'll think of something within the next couple of days and if we do in fact meet at that truck stop....... we are leaving for Lafayette at 7:00 PM, not meeting there at seven but leaving.

Just a thought.

Thanks,

Thanks Andre.
Keep me posted about a good meeting spot. Don't forget I have about a six hour drive before I get anywhere near you guys and after that I would hope someone would be willing to get me detailed directions on how we can meet. It's going to be a lonely and expensive trip so I want to draft behind some other Big Explorers. I see that the E-mail is down. If anyone feels like sending me directions send it to
AlpineTapCleaning@WhereverTheBeerIs.com
I was at the Badlands web page and under rules they have something about helmets, only 2 people per vehicle, vehicle flags...does this pertain to us?

here's how it looks:

we are meeting at that truck stop before seven o'clock. We will leave for Lafayette at 7:00 PM sharp!! if you or anybody else wants to join us,,,,,, be there before seven! want to stop over at my place on the way there? no biggie, just drop me a line. I know Rick is gonna be in town for this one and he's caravaning with us.

take some ample time when leaving. The entire highway system in Illinois and especially in Chicagoland area is (as usuall like it is every year) under construction. No way of escaping that.

More later, I don't think there will be another route set-up.

Later,

No, danny, the helmets are only for the atv'ers, and since we have a hard top, we can have more than 2 people...that just for the jeeps that don't have a full cage. And yeah, vehicle flags are required, but you can get those at the park when you get there...

P.S. Im really liking the e-mail address!! haha!

P.P.S. Scott, I am going to be leaving from work at about 8 PM on thursday, so i will be getting to Lafayette at about 10:30 or so thursday night. Is there some way that we can hook up so i can get in there? What do you think?

Basically when you're there and you pay for the flag....... just keep it for next time. No sense of throwing five bucks for a flag every time you go.......... got a CB??? no? get one! it's a must. Also, there should be a list of things that you need on the trail,,,,, I've seen it somewhere......... (like tow rope, first aid kit, drinking water, fire extinguisher, etc).

Join NOIEC, we are planning a run in Wisconsin too!!! there is a tread here too, look for it, join in and pick the date!

Later,, this time for sure.

I talked to a gal at Sports-in-the-ruff today on the phone. She says that this thing is only about one third full. I haven't even sent a check in but am doing it soon. Gerald Jarrett has a great page about planning a trip with a list of essentials and luxuries. Thanks Gerald, as far as CB talk, What channel do you guys generally run(I saw something about channel 1 in Moab, how original) I am just trying to piece this stuff together so when the time comes I can pick up the airwaves ASAP.

Full or not full.....I can't wait to go!! I need to get my mind off this long list of parts for my swap! Bah to that! Oh well, can't wait!
Pete

uh...i think in the past we used 25......seems only natural to stick with it...but they may assign different groups different channels at the actual run.....just to keep everyone together, ya know?

Yah know, that is like the first post I think in this thread where Scott hasn't mentioned how anxioius he is to go wheelin....appearently, it's not a big deal to him...assuming his axle swap will be done by then.....Wait, it's in Todd's hands....we'll be fine...unless Scott forgets to order parts......
Pete

wait a minute! if this event is only one third filled then all that signed-up will be Explorers..... where did all the Jeepers go??

lol

Scott, will your rig be ready for the trip? oh, forgot, sorry, it's in Todd's hands now......

man I love giving Scott hard time..........

o.k. guys,
as I mentioned last night in the chat room, that wedding was postponed and as it happens I can go to Attica.
WAAAAHOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will save the celebrating for the trail.
If anybody is going from Ohio or driving thru ohio to get to the badlands, and you want to caravan, let me know and we can hook up somewhere.

p.s.- does anybody know where i can get co-ordinates for the badlands?

Just sent off my money for Attica (hope it's not too late). I only live about 25-30 minutes from Attica and have plenty of floor space. I am still working on a buddy of mine to let us use his farm. There would be plenty of places to throw up a tent there if need be. I will keep trying and let everyone know. I now it is sort of last minute, but I just found out about the website last week.

cableguy, welcome to the site!!!!! too bad we're not staying in Danville this year. We could crash at your place after hitting the trails...... lol..... just kidding!

Go to http://www.noiec.com and join our bunch too. There are a few guys not too far from you that you can hook up with.......

sending money now doesn't mean you can't get in. There were reports (wink, wink, Dan) that they're only one third full for now....... plenty of room.

Enjoy the site!

Woohoo! Got my SITR Confirmation in the mail today...can't wait!

I got mine a few days ago but I knew I'm going ever since I got my canceled check back.......

lol

Oh boy...you guys are busy! Uh...uh....ok...meeting place. Well, Dre, are you sure 65 is under the hammer? THe spot I was talking about is not a truck stop, but a REST stop. It is just south of the 80/65 junction. Pete correct me if I am wrong.

I hate darting off right at the departure time because sometimes people get held up. I would say all of us will have a good time waiting around, but lets plan to head out at about 7:00pm. There is no rush and by then rush hour will have settled and we can take our time. Does anyone feel that this is way too late? We can bump it up to 6:30 if you guys think it's better.

I am going to try to get a map of the meeting spot(approx) and post it here. Any querstions email me and I will shoot over to you some directions. I will print out some maps for everyone and hand them out when we meet in case anyone gets seperated from the group.

Email me with any questions:

01sport@onandoffroad.com

I say we just set-it and post a map on our NOIEC site. Then everybody can go there and check on the situation. I thing movu\ing the departure time down will not help. Most of the guys will have to drive through Chicago to get there and do it during rush hour. Now about construction....... that's what I've heard. Can't be certein though since this stretch of I-65 was under construction last year as well. Have to check..... Maybe we should get a list of people that want to hook-up at that Rest Stop for a caravan.......... that'll be easier.... we'll know who's missing.... I believe Rick is going with us but will check.... for now he's probably busy getting everything back in order....

Stay tuned.

OK, andyone who is interested in meeting at 7pm to caravan down to Attica post here. I will put you on a list so that we will wait for you. I will make arrangements for those who get held up so they can contact me.
