Recently aquired stock CD/CASS player and I,m having problems swaping this unit with my stock AM/FM Cass. Plugs in the back of units don't match. Does anyone Know if they make conversion pig-tails to switch from one plug style to the next? Without having to cut wiring incase I decide to change back?

Thanks, PAIN

Unfortunately I don't think they make a connector to swap them out. What may be the problem is the year of the cassette/cd. In 98 they switched to a different radio, and got rid of the crappy external amp. Those cd/tape radios fetch a pretty penny, and you could likely buy an aftermarket combo HU for what you get out of it.

Thanks Mbrooks,
You have confirmed my thoughts.I appreciate your response. I'll go by the correct harness plugs and re-wire the system my self.

ps. you dont happen to know where I could find wiring diagrams for Ford audio systems do you? I have checked hundreds of web sites and get the run around, and both Chilton and Haynes repair manuals pretty much suck in the wiring diagram department.

I think I can dig up the diagrams, but unfortunately I don't have the time right now. If you check back in a few hours I can post it for you :)

Actually I've been told you can get reverse wiring harnesses for stock radios for vehicles at places like Best Buy. So if you get a wiring harness that fits your vehicle and a reverse wiring harness that fits your radio you can wire them together.

Or you could cut the plugs out of an explorer at a junk yard that fits the radio and wire it into a wiring harness that fits your explorer.

I can't get the file sizes small enough to upload to the site. If you want to PM me with your e mail I can mail them to you.
