Finally finished on my system install with pics :D. Just uploaded them this morning at cardomain.com ....more still to come. Think I am having trouble getting them to view though. Would appreciate anybody checking out the site to let me know if pics posted. Thanks again :p

Did ya have trouble finding the grill?

Don

System install

Thanks DonM...no problem finding the grill. Got it at: www.customautoparts.com

Part # CW41292 ($124.95) which is the bolt-in version.

They also have bolt-over styles...which bolt-over existing grill, have seen how much they stick out...did not like it.

this will sound REALLY stupid, but what does the line driver do? thanks man, awesome system, and instead of just painting the bumper, what about all the grey crap?

A line/bass driver boosts the pre-amp RCA signal from the HU to the amp, typically to 8 volts. With a higher pre-amp voltage, you can turn the gains on your amps down all the way, making them run cooler and more efficiently. This also means less noise.

200+ Sq. Feet of Dynamat

What does this stuff go for? Sorry full of questions! :)

Don

that makes perfect sense, thanks

Clean, Very Clean Install!

Techinically it is not dynamat... But I forgot the name of what it really is that I used. I think "Ice and Water Gard" or something like that. Anyway, back on track: The stuff I used is a roofing material that is the same material as dynamat, but costs about 1/8 the price. You can get it at most local building contractors. Where I bought it, I picked up 100 sq. feet for $40. I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to get rid of rattles. It saves a TON of money, and works just as well as Dynamat. My system pounds and I have no rattles whatsoever.

Thats what i looking for, something that works as good as Dynomat, but cost alot cheaper!

I need this stuff bad, i cant turn my system up past 15. :( Way to many rattles.

Thanks

Ya just might have saved me a ton! ;)

BTW, did you do the whole truck with this stuff? Im thinking about just doing the cargo area for now, then the rest of my X if it needs it? How many layers did you use for the back? One or two?

Don

No problem. I try to get the word out to as many people as possible. I cannot speak for everyone, but personally, I would much rather save $300 by not blowing it on dynamat. Then, with the left over cash, I would buy a better amp or subs, and really put the sound proofing to the test! :D

I here ya. ;)

Im curious, does this stuff have a sticky back side? How does it attach to the door?

How many layers did ya use also?

Don

Yep, it has a sticky back side. Just like Dynamat. I used three layers on the tailgate (two on the metal, one on the plastic panel) and two layers everywhere else in the truck (one on the metal, one on the plastic panel). I didn't do anything to the roof though, I didn't want to mess with the headliner. Oh, two layers on the floor as well.

Ok thanks! :) I'll look into this stuff.

Don

I just did a search, looks like a few companies make this stuff. One was called "Sure Grip", Presto, and theres more!

Any idea which one you used?

Thanks

Don

i heard the stuff called "beaver tail" or soemthing like that works really well and is a lot cheaper than dynomat.

liquidx9, yes I do intend to get the bumpers painted.....the entire bumper (all the gray). As mentioned above I intend to look into this ice guard stuff. Have seen it used alot on Hometime (TV program). Would luv to do the entire floor of my X. Dynamat is just too expensive. Thanks for checking out my site, I intend to get a cam to take some better (sharper clips) someday. The one I used (actually a video cam which can take stills) was borrowed from a friend.
