Well a couple of days ago, my RCA cables got pinched in the seat frame, and grounded themselfs, and needless to say, my amp went into 'protection' mode. Well I guess once it goes into this mode, it doesnt come out until somebody does something inside. Since I bought this off ebay, without a warranty, I thought I was screwed, until I called Audiobahn today. They said that because I didnt get it thru an authorized dealer, they couldnt replace it for free, but could upgrade me to the 2002 model with a full factory warranty for $77.
So these are my choices:
1) pay the $77 and get the new one, which is totally kick@ss looking...or
2) find a local shop and risk paying $77 or more to fix it.

I will probably get the 2002 model, rather than risk anything happen to this one agian. Just thought I would see what you guys think...

BTW, here is what the 2002 amp looks like :D

I think you'd be crazy not to pay $77 for a new one and get a warranty

Really? It goes into protection mode through something internal? I will have to check that out. My A2601Q has once again started with the "no music at all and occasional pop from right component speakers" crap. I can't figure out why this time, either. The protect mode light comes on and goes off and then comes back on again, so I am guessing that it is a wiring thing somewhere with the speakers... The protect mode light is not constant. But that internal thing is weird. I wonder what they have to do to fix it? But yeah, pay the $77! I am not a very big fan of the 2002 designs of the larger amps with all the flames on them, but you can't pass up a deal like that!

Well it looks like my amp is toast as well. Today I disconnected the signal and speaker leads from it, leaving only the power, ground, and remote turn on leads, and it still goes into protect mode. I am going to call Audiobahn on Monday... Maybe they'll give me a similar deal, but I am hoping it will be cheaper since my amp was cheaper to start with and it was already a 2002 model. Oh well. I am not too pleased about this one. There really was no reason for it to go into protect mode and die, I was running it at 4 ohms stereo with the gain set to 1/4. At least my A2200HCX is still working and I still have my subs.

Option 1... no brainer
unless you dont ave the $$$
but even if you bring it to a local shop they will charge you $$ anyhow... so it kinda works out.

Pay the $77 bucks! That's quite the deal AND you get the warranty.

*begins rummaging through the local audio shops dumpster looking for audiobahn equipment*

j/k

Hey I'm not alone. My Audiobahn A275HC died as well. It blew the two 25a fuses and if I attempt to put new ones in I get an arc. So Monday I am sending to Audiobahn. The thing that really pisses me off is that I have only had it for 2 weeks and one day it decided to take a steamer. Hope you guys are successful.
