My 2003 XLT 4x4 has 3 buttons, 4x4 auto, high, low.
I. HATE. AUTO. 4X4. I honestly think it's a horrible idea but others have use for it. Using my head i concluded that if you simply take out the 2 wires that connect the harness to the 4x4 switch, the auto 4x4 won't be an option, thus making it 2wd untill i press the 4X4 HIGH button. however i also understand from time to time this could throw a sensor or mess with the transmission or something because of all the computerized junk they put into cars these days.
Has anyone done it this way and if so is it a good idea? If not the proper way what is? Thanks!
