1991 ford explorer xlt
hello evry 1 .. i have a 1991 ford explorer xlt . the back window on the gate has been broken and the front passenger window. i am wondering if it's best just to call a local auto glass place or search for the glass myself does any one know what the average cost will be for this . is the 1991 glass interchangeable with other years if so what years can i use?

Welcome to this forum! Some places like Safelite offer a lifetime warranty, and they even come to you if necessary. They do cost more than everybody else, but then you are paying for their service.

I would also suggest what BrooklynBay have advised. I also think you try searching for local first and compare what you have gathered. I have mine change at almost $200 for the windshield but it's all worth it.

The back glass is probably the same for a 91-97. You might even be able to use 98-2001 back glass, but might need the newer hinges.

Passenger door window glass is probably the same for 91-01, maybe even into the mid 2000's since the door shape didn't really change.

You can get glass at salvage yards / u-pull-its for pretty cheap compared to some glass places. I would call around first, though. Some places have REALLY good prices on auto glass, and you can get new for a few bucks more than used.

There are also members on the forum parting out their Explorers in the For Sale forum, so you can get the glass from them, probably for a great deal.

I have both pieces of glass that you can have for free. If you can figure out how to get them from Chicago. If you cover shipping, and packing materials, they are yours
