2003 Explorer Sport Trac
Aloha I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right area but I have a 2003 Ford Explorer sport trac and all of a sudden my remote would not lock my truck doors. It will make the beeping sound but will not lock. Also when I shift into drive the doors will not lock when it used to. I checked the fuses under the dashboard but all good. I also bought a repair manual which doesn't have any information on my problem! I really don't want to pay an arm and leg for a mechanic to fix something that I can do myself. Please help me if anyone can! Mahalo Angelica

Also check your fuses. My daughter bought a '00 Mountaineer 3 years ago and it had a bunch of stuff that didn't work (O/D OFF, Auto-Lock, B/U lights, rear defogger). It all turned out to be a fuse (#27 if I remember correctly). Maybe a 2003 has a similar circuit. It's worth checking.

Mahalo for the info but the autolock still not working! Are there any other fuses that I should check other than the dash ones?

Is anything else not currently working? Check you owner's manual for fuse location. Most of the minor stuff is inside the truck. If you don't have an owner's manual, just check all the fuses.

Mahalo for your help but I think I might have to just bite my tongue and take it to the dealer

Does the switch on the driver or passenger door work properly and unlock/lock the doors as they should?

I'd check the fuse numbers for you, but I have an 01 and I'm sure they are numbered differently.

No the door switch only will unlock the doors but not lock them. They used to work before I had this problem. I checked all of the fuses in the dash and engine and all are working! Also tried the reset method with the ignition switch and nothing! I thought I could fix it myself and save money but I guess not. Mahalo for your help

Not sure why it'd be all the doors at once. The lock actuators inside the doors are known for becoming weak. There's many threads including my own on this topic.

I had the drivers door switch go bad in my truck. Very simular problem. You can get them on line or from a local auto parts place.

So if my drivers door switch is bad, is that why all the other doors and autolock not working too?

All the windows and locks work through the drivers door switches. Switch problems and broken wires in the drivers door wire bundle lead the list for window and lock problems. Also a bad splice in the wires leading to the RAP module is pretty common for lock/unlock issues. This splice is located in the rear seat area by the door sill. It's on a pink or pink light green wire. The splice tends to corrode and turns green.

The drivers doors must be good since it is very important and so that the other door locks works good.
