Automatic transmission options?

My 91 transmission finally went at 135K.
I,m quoted $1800 and adviced against rebuilding it.
Do I have any other options (even without overdrive) to keep the beast on the road for another few years?
Did the old Bronco have a 4ALD compatible housing?

Well, you basically have 2 choices:

1) rebuild your A4LD or get a remanned one
or
2) swap in a C4/C5 tranny but lose overdrive possibly.

The swap can be done for cheaper than a rebuild, but takes more fab work as your tranny crossmember may need to be reworked. IMO just get a remanned or rebuilt A4LD.

Will one of those fit the transfercase?
Do I need to replace the flywheel?
