:fire: On 1/28/02 I ordered $160.00 of various parts from www.autotoys.com because they seemed to have some pretty good prices... and they advertise "Please tell your friends about AUTOTOYS.COM - A company founded by real installers. 7+ years of excellence online. "
I never received an email with a tracking number, and my box of parts showed up before the tracking number appeared on their "Order Status" page. It then said my order processing was complete.
Well I was missing a $54.00 wiring harness that they wrote on the invoice was backordered. After trying to email them, and trying to use their instructions on their website to get a status... I finally posted a note on their forum stating 45 days was too long to wait and that I wanted a refund or store credit... trying to be cooperative I offered the option of a store credit.
They said I would have "it" in 4-5 days. They didn't say if "it" was a refund, a store credit, or the wiring harness.
I have tried to post questions since then on their forum, and even told them that if I didn't get my refund or credit in 5 days that I would discuss this whole adventure on the infamous Explorer Forum at 4x4Central.com. They deleted that post within 2 hours. :fire: :fire:
I sent them another email through their website telling them I was filing a complaint with Paypal. The phone number Paypal has for them no longer works. Their new phone number is 201-346-4330 and they go by the name of Sound Conceptions. I get a recording that their business hours are 11 to 4. :fire: :fire: :fire:
Then Paypal said they can't get me a refund because I didn't file the complaint within 30 days. (Of course Paypal tells you to make sure you wait a suitable length of time and try to work out any disputes with the vendor before filing a complaint) :fire: :fire: :fire: :fire:
I don't know if this is another procarparts.com or if this is simply a company that has just tried to handle too many different products and has grown too big too fast. My recommendation, if any of you choose to order from them is to use a credit card so that you can dispute the charges if need be.
I left them a note on their forum with a link to here saying that they bought themselves $54 worth of bad advertising on a 9831 member forum...
Seems like I'm not the only one that had troubles...

Well, still no email, and they cannot say they do not know what I am talking about, because they already deleted my post demanding a refund. I guess they didn't like the part about having bought $54 of bad advertising on this forum...

This email confirms that SOUN CONCEPTIONS has sent you $54.00 with PayPal.
The part that I love is the fact that I still have never received a phone call or even a personal email.
To be fair, and I try to... their site has a great selection, and has a lot of parts for installations that are hard to find at the prices they offer. They don't gouge you on shipping, which is good. I think they got overwhelmed as their business grew and have not been able to provide personal customer support.
I do not think I will order from then again until they start posting a toll-free order line and toll-free customer support line. If I ever do order, I will use a credit card so I can disput the charges.
They cannot expect you to wait 60 or more days for a wiring harness when you are trying to build a vehicle.
Even Harbor Freight and J.C. Whitney send me a cards when they have a backorder giving me the option of cancelling. In fact, on those postcards they say they do it because it is the law... now the law may only apply to companies that also have a catalog... I am not a lawyer (hence the "I try to be fair" comment).
