Aux Jack ???? 06 Exp. EB

Hi all....I have searched and searched and thus far only been able to find aftermarket solutions to this issue, when I was hoping for a more factory solution.

SO, I have a 2007 Explorer EB, single CD with AUX input next to lighter for iPod's etc etc.

Girlfriend has 2006 Explorer EB with SAME radio, only difference is she has the steering wheel mounted controls and I don't. She has an empty spot where that AUX input jack COULD be...but the experts at ford did not put it there lol

There are aftermarket splicers and harnesses to add a box to be able to use ipods and such....but wouldn't common knowledge suggest the only difference in hers and mine is the absence of that AUX plug...and thus if I could scrap yard find one or order one, could a factory input jack be installed into her empty spot where one should be, and plugged into her radio? To make it just like it came with it from the factory?

no i don't believe it can be added. the easiest thing to do is to pick up either the use spec or simple iPod adapter for that car. Very easy to install and will charge the iPod/ iPhone as well.

I'm gonna go with CMK on this one and vote for the adapter, I use the USA Spec iPod interface , sold on Crutchfield

Really simple install. You should be able to use the steering wheel controls without a problem, and change tracks using the buttons on the factory deck without an issue. Excellent sound quality and crazy fast charging.

I'm very interested. I too have an 06. They didn't start putting those things in cars till 07. Not neccesarily Ford's fault. I encountered this same problem when I bought my Ex in JUNE. I decided to go with the Isimple gateway. What a POS!!!!!!! It worked intermittently, would randomly turn off, about half of the advertised features functioned (has 2 ports on box, one for headphone jack, one for ipod... only one port actually worked), the layout of the controls is total bullshit ( you can't control your Ipod once its plugged in, must use head unit)... and that's all fine and dandy. I dealt with it for 7 months. I was just glad to have my music. Now the damn thing just stops working. it'll play the first 3 seconds of a song when the unit first comes on, then shut off till the car is turned off / back on. sometimes the head unit recognizes the peripheral, sometimes not. Either way, Im stuck with CD's. All that said, peripherals can kiss my ass. especially for the $200 I paid for mine. Doesn't anyone make anything of quality anymore?

SO yes. I'd love to hear about how to install an Auxiliary jack in my car.
