Avoid the company "alterstart" on ebay!! 160alt dosn't fit!

Make sure before you order a 5.0 Alt tripple check with the company!

Gee look in there how it says it fits an explorer 5.0

I called to order it because I wanted to double check with them that this alternator will fit a 98 5.0 Explorer.

aw hell that would make to much sense wouldn't it?

#1. The bolt holes don't line up on the new one.

#2. The damn alternator is so deep I can't even try to make it fit without rubbing the valve cover!!

I'll put pics on later after I put the dying stock one back in.

I'm so freaking pissed off. I don't have time to worry about shipping to and from. I need this truck to be in top shape for next weekend for a 5 day wheeling/camping/fishing trip. And I'm adding 4 new lights on the roof. GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they seem to have a great deal of positive feedback, so dont worry about it. theyre people too, and people make mistakes. just call them and tell then your problem, maybe someone just shipped out the wrong model.

My friend came over and for ***** I held it next to the alt on his F-150. Guess what. Its identical.

As their site says it should fit an F-150. So basicly they shipped me the right part but didnt' know what the hell they were talking about on the phone when I made him double check that it would fit a 5.0 explorer!

Update: Called the company and the person at first said well if its in the auction it will fit. The alternator was the right one I ordered. However they put that it was for the 5.0 in which its not.

The guy was pretty cool about the problem once he varified that I wasn't smoking crack and that the alts were different.

He's going to ship me a new one today and a return label to send the other one back.

if theyre a really good company, they wont even ask for the old one back. That has happened to me a few times, then I just sell the wrong part on ebay - in some cases I actually make money on a mod.

yea he said the "correct" one is actually about 160$ vs 134$ for what I paid. He said no charge difference. Woot woot. But I'm not gona celibrate till it gets mounted and works.

I know I seem a little to frustrated about this issue but I've had a midly ****y week were Just about everything has gone wrong.

Did they mention what it does fit? Like a 94 X? I ws looking into this as well. Guess I should call to verify also.

Yes it will fit V6 X's as far as I know. Give them a call and find out. But the total with shipping is about 159$ But I priced out some stock ones from different auto part stores and they were the same price or more. Might as well Upgrade

But the unit I have that can't install is just plain beautiful. Brand freaking new, very beefy. Hell I wish I could of made it fit

Got the new Alt today. Fits perfect. A+ to their service department for fixing the F-up
