AWD to 4WD

So i have an AWD mounty 97' and i want to convert it to 4WD sometime soon, this maybe a dumb question but is it possible to do this without the manual shift and 4hi 4lo shifter as well?? just wondering sorry if this question is a repeat too

You can put in an electric shift 4406, but it involves wiring and a new gem. Why not go manual?
 












Aaron is the leader there for the TOD BW4406. The three modules, radio bezel, and short TC harness are required. It is simple for the 98-01 trucks, but be sure that the 97-95's have the wiring before you consider that. Good luck,
 






Thanks guys, well its probably going to be a summer project when i got more time but need to get a few things first anyway ill try searching around a little bit more on info. Btw V8 boat builder thanks for your link i already had it bookmarked before
