- '91 Explorer XLT
Hello all. I'm new to the forum, as of now. I've had my '91 for almost four years and just yesterday, as the sleet was pouring down and the roads were icing up, I got my four wheel drive working for the first time. I had to replace the t-case motor. Tested and it all worked -- for a brief second or two, when I noticed the hubs were shot. I opted for the WARN manual locking hubs and conversion kit. In as little as an hour of work, all four wheels were spinning. The true test came when going home. Not a slip, not a skid, not a white-knuckler into the ditch. It was beautiful! So I ask myself why, after all those times of fishtailing in the slightest amount of rain, didn't I do this before? STOOPID!! Anyway, it's working great, I love the ol' Explorer even more and now I'm wanting to fix it up more than I ever have before.
