I know this is a very silly question but I need to do some work on my wife's explorer. Having been a land rover owner myself, I'm used to slapping the jack stands under the axe but where would the safe place to to put the axel stand on the front and rear? went through the owners manual and they said to use that wee tab sticking out on the lower control arm. I don't know if I trust that thing to crawl under the truck.
Also can I put the floor jack on the diffs?
take care
sam

i put the rear ones under the axle tube and the front ones are a bit trickier... i usually jack the rear first then jack in the middle of the front and put the stands right where the control arms attach to the frame on the flat spot and then leave the jack there

Never jack up any vehicle on the diffs. That can pop and warp the case.

You can jack it up on the frame in front, or under the spindle/knuckle area.

I use the diffs to jack mine up all the time. Even my mechanic does.

same here, you will not hurt the punkin, just make sure your far enough foreward so as not the catch the diff cover, that you can bend, get your jackstands under the axle tubes and remove the Floorjack, no biggie
