Ok , I found out D2 = 4.10 LS and includes Tow pacage . I thought the tow package would include a reciever hitch ? Which I don't have . What about trailer light hook- up' s . Maybe they are there , but I don't know where to look , can you point me in the right area? THNX ......

To clear it up, on my '97 to get the limited slip, you had to order the tow package. They are lumped into the same package called Trailer Tow Package. The 4.10 axle is because your Explorer came originally with 255 70R16 tires. If it wouldn't have had the tow package, it would have came with a 4.10 open axle. The tow package also included a 4-wire flat adapter that plugs into a socket behind the rear license plate. When I bought mine new, the adapter was in a brown cardboard box in the jack compartment. The tow package also includes the heavy duty relays and on my '97 included the auxillary tranny cooler. I think Ford made the tranny cooler standard on the '98. The tow package has never included a hitch on the Explorer until the 2002 model. The bumper is rated for pulling a class II (3500 lbs) load so Ford probably figured that was enough.

Thanks

I'll take a look behind the plate , and in the jack compartment ......

Robert...

Your '97 has a tranny cooler?? Now I'm pissed!!! My '96 Eddie B. has 4.10 LSD and tow package but it didn't have the tranny cooler.
