axle codes?

Hey guys, I'm looking at Explorers (you can check my rant in the BS section). Can someone give me a rundown of what all of the axle codes are? I don't want to get one with an open diff. I'd prefer a 3.73 limited slip. A list would be great. Thanks in advance!

I can actually answer this one and help.
I too have been looking at explorers (although I think I have settled on a mountaineer).

I was given a link that has the axel codes in it.

here are the codes:

Rear Axle Codes

41 - Conventional - 3200 lb. Capacity - 3.27 Ratio
45 - Conventional - 3200 lb. Capacity - 3.55 Ratio
D4 - Limited Slip - 3200 lb. Capacity - 3.73 Ratio
46 - Conventional - 3200 lb. Capacity - 3.73 Ratio
D1 - Limited Slip - 3200 lb. Capacity - 3.27 Ratio
42 - Conventional - 3200 lb. Capacity - 4.10 Ratio
D2 - Limited Slip - 3200 lb. Capacity - 4.10 Ratio
