Just curious as to know how the easiest way to remove these bushings are. Can I just remove the bolt that goes threw the bushing and then pry the axle arm down or do I have to tear the front end apart. I have read that most people burn these bushings out and chisel out the steel part of the bushing. Is that the best way????

You can just take out the center bolt and pull arm down, it isn't to hard to pull on, I didn't need a pry bar. I used a 5/16th's drill bit and ran it around the bushing and arm to remove old bushing, then had little to clean up. Are you installing Daystars?

Well that sounds easy enough, should be a piece of cake (MAYBE);) From what I have read Daystars seem to be the way to go, so thats probably what I will replace them with. Are the Daystar stronger or more durable then the regular ford bushings. I take it those bushings are urethane, do the sleeves come with the bushing or do I leave the existing sleeve in the arm and re-use it?

Daystars

Take out the sleeve, you won't re-use. You will need some teflon grease and a c-clamp to get new bushing in. For me it was worth the trouble to put in the daystars, I have replaced every bushing with daystars, they tigheten the ex up really good.

How much is that bushing?:D

alright sounds great, Thanks!! I will go with the Daystars then. Who did you get your Daystars from? Dealer or Online??

Get ahold of Hank he seels them:D

SALES@FLEXPLORERS.COM

He has the prices on that site:D

Are you telling me that you don't need to remove the spring or anything to remove this bushing? Leave the front tires on the ground, take old bushing out, put new one in. Did I miss something??????

I would think you would need to remove pressure from the spring first.

Inform me.

Thansk,

Brian

pivot bushings

You have to have front end jacked up off the ground, support your ex on jackstands back behind radius arm mounts. You do not need to remove spring to change pivot arm bushings. I put a jack under spring just for safety.

We just replaced the axle pivot bushings on our 1992 Yesterday...

Last time we did it, it only took 30 minutes per side.. This time it took 2 hours per side (give or take a few)..

The big different...

The first time, the bushings didn't have the metal sleeves around them (came from James Duff)..

This time we used Moog bushings.. and they had a sleeve on them..

The hardest part was getting the old sleeve out.. I just used a grinder to grind the lip off the bushing sleeve.. then smacked it with a 5 lbs sledge and it came out.. (took longer on the first one becuase we didn't use the grinder first.. we tried a drift and sledge.. that didn't work)..

Getting them back in wasn't too bad.. but replacing them without replacing the sleeve is real easy.. You just drill a bunch of holes around the bushing.. then knock out the center (sleeve) .. and then the bushing will come out easily...

You do need to grease the new bushings to get it to go in easily...
