I was wondering what types of problems people have encountered with the d44 swap in combination with rear disc brakes. I recently did the d44 swap and 9" in the rear with disc brakes. The problem that I'm having is a really really low pedal basically the brakes lock up right before it bottoms out. I have a new booster and master. I also by passed the rear abs pump so its just straight brakes. I've been told that I need a bigger master because of the larger brakes in the fornt and the rear disc. I just want to get a better pedal. As for a porportioning valve I'll worry about that when and if I need it after I get the pedal up. Any Ideas would be appreciated thanks Robbie J

Hi Robbie, When you say new master and booster is it one for a 91-94 or an Explorer with discs (later model)? What you can do is screw out the pushrod between the master and booster a few turns. You could also get an adjustable porportioning valve from summit racing if you need one later. Go to the bottom of this page for more info on adjusting the push rod: http://www.explorer4x4.com/discswap.html

Would your explorer be ready for a day trip next Saturday? The ABQ group hasnt been wheeling in a while.

is there air in the system? i know you probably already bled the system, but it never hurts to cover all the bases...
