Has anyone ordered the ShiftPlus Electronic Shift Improver from B&M? I checked the trans codes for the trans that it is supposed to fit, and my 5sp auto is one of them. I would like to firm up the shifts and want to know if this will work.

I have it on my 96 OHV / 4R55E and it works really well. The only thing is the module generates a lot of heat, so I rigged up a heatsink system for it. I've heard of 2 catching on fire. With the heatsink though, it's not a problem.

ahh so it does work on 00. The spec said only up to 97. Is this thing easy to hook up? Where do the wires run? Seems like a nice inexpensive mod. Its just $40.

Thanks

Yes, 95-2000 OHV/SOHC use the same tranny i beleive. It will crimp into the wireing harness on either the computer side, or the tranny side. And yes, for the money, it is a great mod.

Where do you get it and who has it at the best price? Is the only thing it does is firm up the shifts?

soupbone, just check part #BMM-70381 from www.summitracing.com and they said is for Ford: 1994-97 F-series pickup with E4OD transmission.
IS FORD 1997 EXPLORER SPORT automatic have the same tranny ???

Just wondering. What does this shifter do?

Interesting. Would you recommend this for a '97 SOHC tranny with 90k miles on it? Does it change the shift point (higher rpm) or just firm up the shift?

All the improver will do is firm up the shifts. I would spend a little more money and get a chip, which will firm up the shifts, raise shift points, and advance the timing to give you more power.

I bought the "Jet" electronic shift kit from EE and it did not work on my 2000/V8/4R70W tranz. It's like it backfeeds the EEC V and the whole vehicle shuts down when I switch it on.
Of course "no return on electronic parts..."

I dropped the pan and installed a Baumann kit instead.

Does it work on the 5R55E tranny?

I have a 98 sport SOHC (auto.). Would it work on mine? Also, what tranny do I have?
